ATTO ExpressPCI FC Release Notes: Version 2.3.1

The following is a list of known issues that effect the ATTO ExpressPCI FC family of controllers:

1. Application Performance. In order to get the maximum performance with applications running on Macintosh computers, the application software should align the buffers along a 32-byte boundary. While performance with software that does not do this is acceptable, aligning the buffers will maximize performance. ATTO is currently working on a method of ensuring maximum performance even when the buffers are not properly aligned.

2. Fibre Channel Performance. In this release, the Fibre Channel adapter defaults to running in Full Duplex.

3. Scanning LUNs with ATTO ExpressRAID / ExpressPro-Tools. When using ATTO ExpressRAID or ExpressPro-Tools for MacOS, versions 2.10 or lower, to scan a Fibre Channel or SCSI bus which have connected devices addressed at LUNs other than 0, a condition may occur where:

        - the drives are not detected and/or
        - the reported information on the available disk space is incorrect

This condition should only occur on the first scan after the LUN controlling device is reset and then only after a Macintosh computer has already powered up. If you do experience this, execute a rescan from within ExpressRAID or ExpressPro-Tools and the disk information will be reported correctly. If you have any questions regarding this issue, please contact ATTO for more information.

4. Version 2.3.1 does not support ExpressPCI FC 64 or ExpressPCI FC 66 controllers.

5. ATTO recommends that users of Blue and White G3 and G4 systems install the latest motherboard firmware updates from Apple. Check Apple Computer's website for the latest information on firmware updates. http://www.apple.com
